Social development program

The aim of this program is identification social problem and developing the economic level of the rural people. The main target of the Samurdhi  authority is, building up the helpless poor rural people and improving their attitudes and hopes.

1. 1. Drugs preventing (controlling) project

Poor people have to face lot of Economics and Social problems as drugs. To control that condition, It has been tried to operate the awareness program for minimizing the publication and attractiveness for the drugs. It has been hold awareness program to cover all districts for prevention drugs by General Secretariat Island wide.

2. 2. The project of minimizing the child abuse and establishment of child welfare program .

It has been organized various program by integration of Sri Lanka Samurdhi Authority and National Child Insurance Authority based on the factors of children rights, child responsibilities and prevention of child abuse.

It was tried to raise Child’s physical and mental concentrate by establishing Kekulu Children Society.

Meanwhile, being improved Children’s physical and mental concentration by the establishing Kekulu children society, so many activities are being accomplished, such as prose, verse and drawing competition, holding small fairs and improving cultural ethics in the same Children’s society.

3. 3. International day commemoration

Under the Social Development Program, It is conducted commemoration of 4 international days per one, for one quarter of one year by the operators of the Island wide project programs.

 International Women day (8^th March)

International day of cigarettes protesting (31^st May)

International literacy day (8^th September)

International day for the getting rid of the poverty  (10-17 October)

Child and Adults day (1^st October)

4. 4. Adults Welfare

Under the Social Development Program, It is operated to celebrate International eldest day on 1^st October.

Information about the other services such as public assistance /special assistance /Maintenance assistance in social service department of Western province

1. 1. Monthly payment of Public assistance

It should be a family of jobless, less income and need of special support or isolated family.

It should be indicated for one of following classification

1. 1. Being Old person with or without dependants.
2. 2. Being a person who is physically and mentally illness except adulthood.
3. 3. Being an illness person with or without dependant who is disabled to earn.
4. 4. Helpless women who died husbands or have dependent children.
5. 5. Forsaken children under 16 ages.
6. 6. Being a resident in relevant General secretariat.
